I wish to express my unbounded gratitude to God for Christian Science and for Mrs. Eddy, our dear Leader, who by her revelation of Truth to mankind has enabled us to understand and demonstrate the power and presence of God to heal sickness, sin, and inharmony of any name or nature.
When Christian Science found me I was sick in body and mind and anything but happy. It just seemed that everything that could be wrong was wrong. My first healing was of chronic constipation, stomach disorders, headaches, and numerous other ills of the flesh. I learned that God is Love, and does not send sickness and suffering, but heals them. I love the definition of Christ which Mrs. Eddy gives on page 583 of Science and Health, "The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error."
I witnessed a healing of pneumonia a few weeks after coming into Christian Science. My son was taken ill with this ailment during the night. In the morning, when I could not reach a practitioner by telephone, the thought came clearly to me that because I had my Bible and Science and Health, and God was with me, I had all I needed. I immediately took Science and Health and the Bible and sat down beside my son's bed and began reading psalms of gratitude to him. While I was reading the one hundred and twenty-first Psalm he fell asleep and the difficulty in breathing stopped. He slept soundly for two hours. When he awoke he called to me, and when I went to him he was sitting on the side of the bed. He remarked: "Isn't it funny? I'm not sick. I am well and hungry." I gave him his meal, and permitted him to go out in the afternoon. There were no more signs of the disease.
