Testimonies of Healing

In March, 1913, I first learned of Christian Science, this wonderful healing truth that makes men free from all worries and fleshly ills. Since then I have had ample occasion to prove this healing power as we are taught it through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

From my childhood until I found Christian Science, I seemed to be searching for something that would really satisfy. I had a great desire to pray but no understanding of how to go about it.

During the year 1900 a friend of mine became interested in Christian Science through a lady from whom we were both taking sewing lessons. Through this Science my friend was healed of constipation, from which she had suffered most of her life.

At the time Christian Science came to me I was in such a condition that I could not walk far or stand long or even sit in comfort. I just did not know what more to do.

Before I took up the study of Christian Science it was my privilege to witness an almost instantaneous healing of a lady whom the doctors had said would be a semi-invalid for life. Feeling no need of a religion based, as I thought, on physical healing, I became very critical of its Founder and soon forgot about it altogether.

I wish to express deep gratitude for the wonderful healings Christian Science has brought to me. I knew nothing of this religion when a Scientist asked me why I wore spectacles.

I should like to give thanks for the healing and regenerating power of Christian Science. About six years ago, a few weeks before my baby was born, I was to mortal sense dangerously ill.

I give this testimony to express my sincere gratitude to God for the many blessings I have gained through Christian Science. I bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, asked help of a practitioner, and was healed of an internal condition for which the physician had said an operation would be necessary.

Christian Science has brought me many mental healings, among which have been a better understanding of God and man; more peace, patience, charity, and tolerance; a greater freedom from material thought; the healing of grief; and the unfolding of a more practical application of the truths given in the Bible through the study of Science and Health. As a result of these mental healings, many physical ailments have been healed, among which have been rheumatism, neuritis, pneumonia, sickness from travel, fever, an injured finger upon which an automobile door had shut, loss of consciousness, eye trouble, and nervousness during what seemed to be a dangerous situation.

During the training period for a crew race in which I was to take part, I was unable to sleep for four or five nights owing to a painful ulcerated tooth. I became so ill that it seemed necessary that I return to my home city, seventy-five miles distant.
