Testimonies of Healing
In Ezekiel we read: "And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods. And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.
Jacob's exclamation after a dream experience, "Surely the Lord is in this place," comes gratefully to my thought, replacing a false picture, when I pass a point on the highway at which I was involved in an automobile accident. Through a shower of breaking glass I was thrown some distance, striking the frozen ground with my head and shoulder, and was rendered unconscious.
It is with sincere gratitude for the many blessings that Christian Science has brought into my life that I give this testimony. I first heard of Christian Science in 1910, but it was not until 1915 that in my extremity I turned to God and was healed of a severe nervous breakdown.
"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who for-giveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases. " How grateful I am for this passage of Scripture, for these promises have been realized in my experience! About eighteen years ago I was confined to my home and was part of the time in bed suffering from nervous exhaustion with all of the attending discomforts, such as stomach trouble, sick headaches, anaemia, indigestion, heart trouble, and a great sense of fear.
Twenty-six years ago I was healed by Christian Science of a very painful malady, but as I knew no English nor anyone familiar with Spanish to direct me in the study of Christian Science I scarcely realized how I was healed, nor did I look into it further. Seven years ago I again became interested in this Science on seeing the remarkable healings experienced by a relative through the work of a practitioner who knows Spanish.
In heartfelt gratitude to God for the many blessings which Christian Science has brought into my life, I give this testimony. In 1914 I underwent an operation for cancer, and a year later was preparing for another operation for the some disease when I was led to try Christian Science treatment.
On first hearing of Christian Science, how many people ridicule this wonderful religion, as I did! But on gaining an understanding of God as Father-Mother, as explained in the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, how grateful we become! The problem of unemployment was overcome through treatment and the study of the statement in "Miscellaneous Writings" by Mrs.
I am a living witness to the healing power of Christian Science. One evening during the first week in July, 1930, I became dangerously ill.
It is with deep gratitude that I write this testimony, for Christian Science has been very helpful to me. I began the study for a physical healing, but have since applied this Science to all other problems, and find it a never-failing aid.
It is my desire to add my thanksgiving to the many voices continually singing praises to God for Christian Science. Like many others it seemed to me that only so-called large accomplishments were worthy of being told as demonstrations; and yet, looking over the many experiences encountered, I realize that my existence would be a poor one did it still include all the pains, fears, limitations, and sinful traits that it formerly did.
