Testimonies of Healing

[Original testimonies in Russian] In  1925 our only daughter was pronounced incurable by the best physicians of our town; the specialists abroad took X-ray pictures and confirmed the diagnosis of local physicians—tuberculosis of the spine— and the verdict of our friend and doctor was that she would stay in bed in a cast till the "natural" end, meaning death. He also added that she might last ten or twenty years, but that she would never be able to get up because of the dislocation of the vertebrae.

When I was in my early twenties I became, as I thought at the time, very much interested in Christian Science. This interest was more of a blind enthusiasm, the letter without the spirit or understanding of the Christ.

About two years ago I had a healing through Christian Science which taught me more than many years of study. I was healed within a week of a bad attack of shingles.

Twenty-three years ago, while I was at a sanatorium for tubercular patients, a friend told me of Christian Science and of its power to heal all discord and disease. As I pondered my friend's statement, for the first time in months I began to have hope.

From early childhood I was in poor health much of the time, and had more than the average share of bad habits. Indirectly, through the healing of an aunt, and more directly through what I saw Christian Science do for my mother, I became interested in this Science in 1912.

It is time that I acknowledged to "the great congregation" the continuous help Christian Science has been to me for about twenty-seven years. My introduction to Science and Health came when I was asked to read it aloud to a friend.

In the fall of 1915 I came to America from war-torn scenes and over mine-infested waters. In retrospect I can clearly see now how much like a little heap of negative clay I seemed to be at the time, continually attracting in that state of mesmerism new phases of the same old lie of evil as real and as having power.

During the past seven years Christian Science has met my every need. I am sincerely grateful for the many blessings which have come into my experience.

Breaking the chains which a man imposes upon himself through mortal beliefs gives us cause for rejoicing in our knowledge of the true bonds of Love, as revealed to us through Christian Science. I have known something of this Science all of my life, but have not always adhered as closely to the study and practice of its teachings as I might have done.

I have experienced so many wonderful healings and blessings through the study and application of Christian Science during the last eighteen years, that I should seem most ungrateful did I not express gratitude for these experiences. Some time ago, while I was working in a factory, a filter containing a chemical—of which about seventy-five per cent was acid—was blown out, and the contents were thrown directly into my face and eyes.
