Testimonies of Healing
" This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success" ( Josh. 1:8 ).
My first testimony appeared in the Journal of June, 1954. Since that time I have experienced many further proofs of God's loving care for His children.
" Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" ( John 8:32 ). This statement of Jesus has been proved true in my own experience.
When I left a Christian Science Sunday School at the age of twenty, I might have thanked my teachers in the following words from the Bible ( Ps. 16:6 ): "The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
At one time I made daily trips to a doctor's office for treatments for a back condition that was very painful. There was no improvement; so a bone specialist was asked to see me.
It is indeed a joy to glorify God in the spirit of overflowing gratitude and to glorify Him in relating how Christian Science has brought health and harmony to a body which had been laid low by disease. Twelve years ago, when a mobile X-ray unit was in our town, I was X-rayed and later told that I had active tuberculosis in one lung.
When we learn to apply Christian Science, difficult experiences naturally turn into blessings, and our gratitude for proofs of God's care becomes greater than we can express in words. While en route to a resort last year we had to travel over some roads made very rough by a recent flash flood in that area.
For some years I have wanted to submit a testimony to our periodicals, but I have indulged in postponement because of the feeling that unless I had something fairly dramatic to relate, my contribution might be of little interest to others. Recently, however, it has become clearer to me that since the eternal revelation of the facts of Spirit is continuous, natural, and normal, an account of orderly progress, of a life made year by year more harmonious, more useful, and more satisfying through the teachings of Christian Science, would not be without value.
I shall always be grateful that Christian Science found me at an age which allowed me the wonderful privilege of attending a Sunday School for a period of a year and a half. This great blessing still continues to unfold.
It would be impossible to enumerate here all the blessings unfolded to our family since the time a friend placed a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy in my hands and I found this profound statement on page vii of the Preface: "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings.
