My heart goes out in love and...

From the November 1932 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My heart goes out in love and gratitude to God for Christian Science. For all the wonderful things it is doing for me, I try to show my appreciation by my living.

Christian Science was brought to me when materia medica had failed. After much discussion by three doctors and the specialists whom they had called, it was decided that I had a serious rheumatic condition, leakage of the heart, tonsillitis, a nervous breakdown, and all of the diseases that accompany these. The troubles were of thirteen years' standing. With all this and an overwhelming sense of grief, I had no desire to get well. I was in a hospital for about four weeks, but with treatments, tests, and examinations my funds soon ran low and I was sent home because my mother could pay the expenses no longer. Gradually I grew worse, and at last was told to lie flat on my back and see no one.

I continued to have company, however, and a friend brought me a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel. It was opened to the testimonies of healing. After reading them I became very much interested and asked for the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This was lovingly borrowed for me. After three days' reading I seemed to grow worse, and my friend recommended that a Christian Science practitioner be called. I consented, and with one visit from the practitioner and eleven treatments I was healed. All of the so-called incurable diseases had disappeared!
