TO those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Pref., p. vii). What a comforting and encouraging message these inspired words of Mary Baker Eddy bring to all mankind! Through them the experienced worker, as well as the young student in Christian Science, finds his thought turned to the cause of all true being, namely, divine Principle, God. The importance of frequently considering the spiritual fact underlying these words cannot be overemphasized. It is the fundamental fact of man's relationship to God as His reflection and, therefore, as entirely dependent upon Him for his existence and for his qualities.
Many earnest Christian Scientists have proved that the understanding of this idea of reflection immeasurably enhances their abilities in every right direction. Latent possibilities for doing good, beautiful traits of character, unselfish desires, more intelligence and wisdom, greater capacities —all these unfold naturally and normally as man's absolute dependence upon Spirit, God, becomes more clearly understood. As the human mind becomes spiritualized, limitation and restriction disappear, and accordingly one's life manifests more usefulness and helpfulness.
The perversion of the so-called mortal mind manifests itself in false assertion of self-sufficiency. Christian Science lays bare this lie and reveals the truth of the omniscient, omnipresent divine Mind. It shows that human reason needs the leavening and enlightening influence of divine revelation, and that thought must be spiritualized. As one learns to understand even a little of the allness and omniactivity of the one Mind, and to know that man is the eternal expression of Mind, one begins to appreciate the wondrous blessing Love has bestowed upon him.
