Sincere gratitude for all the good that I have received through the healing truth of Christian Science prompts me to give my testimony.
About seventeen years ago Christian Science was made known to me by a friend in California who had been healed of asthma. As the well-known hymn runs, it came to me "across the ocean," and I am truly grateful that I was able to accept its loving message. At that time I was a physical and mental wreck, having suffered for years from chronic indigestion, gastritis, and an internal trouble for which I underwent an operation that resulted in a serious nervous breakdown. There seemed no hope of my ever being healed, as I had consulted many doctors and taken various kinds of treatment, but all to no avail. It is but just to say that the doctors did all they could to help me and were very loving and kind; but they could not heal me. However, after taking up the study of Christian Science, with the help of a practitioner I was healed in a very short time and able to resume my work, which before had seemed an impossibility.
Although truly grateful for all the physical healings, I am more grateful for the better understanding of God and man, and for the clearer light Christian Science has thrown on the Bible, which before was a sealed book to me. Christian Science has helped me in many ways, and is daily helping me to overcome false traits of character and to purify my thinking. I also wish to express my gratitude for the loving, consecrated work of The Christian Science Board of Directors, and for all those who are endeavoring to hold up the banner of Truth. For the pure thought and unselfed love of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, I feel I can express my gratitude only by striving to live up to her teaching in my daily life.—London, England.
