Several years ago I was led to begin the study of Christian Science, and this has so completely changed my whole life that I should like to go on record as an individual witness to the transforming power of God through the study and application of Christian Science.
A friend presented Science to me three years before I investigated it. At that time I was too successful and self sufficient to be receptive to its benefits. Fortunately this self-satisfaction was destroyed while I was at school abroad. My musical education was terminated by two years of study in Paris, followed by a successful debut there. So, having been well prepared and presented, I was ready to begin the practice of the art that I had spent my life in learning.
The business depression then caused a change in the monetary standards of our country, and our dollar was decreased in value to approximately one half of its former value in France. I thus found myself without adequate funds to pursue the career as planned. Every possible investigation was made for obtaining aid. Influential friends both in this country and abroad were unable to find any place for me to be of use. I succumbed to the mesmerism of despair, depression, and finally melancholia.
