A CHRISTIAN SCIENTIST generally recognizes that he is especially blessed in having seen definite proof of the healing power of Christian Science. He recognizes that, widespread as Christian Science healing now is, the great majority of mankind have not yet been thus blessed; and his endeavor on all suitable occasions, through sheer gratitude, is to let others know of this healing and liberating power. He sees that others are in need, and do not know of the presence of that which will meet their need; that they are somewhat like thirsty men who do not know that water is near. He is, naturally, glad to show them the good which is at hand for them. That is the explanation of the testimonies regularly appearing in the Christian Science periodicals and those given at the Wednesday meetings in all Christian Science churches.
Two points concerning the ever-multiplying experiences of healing and of other help through Christian Science may be noted here as being of general interest. First, that these experiences are different in quality from any others which one can have. Anyone feeling for the first time the quickening touch of spiritual power in Christian Science, is aware that something new and very joyful has occurred for him, and that it has opened possibilities for him surpassing any he has envisaged before.
A second noteworthy characteristic of such healing is that it is manifestly a scientific experience. Not only does the help come in a way that is understandable, but the evidence of the help received is, in a very large proportion of the cases, obvious and conclusive to any impartial and careful observer. This circumstance explains why Christian Science spreads so readily.
