Testimonies of Healing

I am deeply grateful for some understanding...

From the July 1941 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am deeply grateful for some understanding of Christian Science. It has brought great joy and wonderful harmony into my life and has been my only physician for the last twelve years.

Recently I had proof of divine Love's protection and guidance in the midst of material warfare, and wish to tell my experience in the hope that it may help someone else still in captivity.

I lived in Paris for many years, and left there with my baby son the day before the German Army entered. It had appeared impossible for me to obtain a permit to leave Paris before the occupation, but at the last minute, when the difficulties appeared to be increasing with every hour, I read an article to the effect that any spiritual step forward must always be manifested by a step forward in one's human life. I determined to turn my thoughts entirely away from my problem and try first to take a step forward spiritually. Then, on that last day, when the difficulties had never appeared to be greater, I not only was able to obtain permission to leave Paris but was able to board the last train leaving there. During the days that followed, whenever the next stage of our journey seemed impossible, I turned my thoughts from the difficulty and tried to realize the truth more clearly; and everywhere we received great and outstanding kindness and sympathy from every official and civilian, although there were several reasons why we might have been regarded with suspicion.
