My introduction to Christian Science came at a time when one of my daughters was ill with tuberculosis, for which the doctors offered no hope of a cure, even after the two operations they performed. My other daughter, who was in the United States at the time, had been given a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. She lovingly sent it to her sister with this note on the flyleaf:"This book may help you. . . . Your need is greater than mine." The sufferer read this book practically all her waking hours. On one occasion when she laid it down I picked it up and at once recognized that it contained the truth which I had been seeking.
As this daughter endeavored to conform her thoughts to the truth she read her appetite returned and her normal weight was regained. In a remarkably short time she was quite healed. Later she presented herself to the specialist who had previously treated her and told him what had brought about the healing. He rejoiced with her and acknowledged the power of Christian Science. After this glorious proof of God's care she continued with her study and had class instruction. She is now fully employed in the most essential work in the world, namely Christian Science healing.
I have witnessed many wonderful healings in my family, including the healing of a broken arm and a double fracture of the skull. Recently it was necessary for me to be cared for in a Christian Science House for several weeks. It would be impossible to speak too highly of this haven of peace, in which I experienced much spiritual progress. Class instruction has proved a precious benefit to me.
