"THE WAY OUT OF THE WILDERNESS"

From the June 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

At the time of the completion of the Extension of The Mother Church in 1906, the incoming President in his address made these pertinent remarks (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, by Mary Baker Eddy, pp. 43, 44): "The world looks with wonder upon this grand achievement,—the completion and dedication of our magnificent temple,—and many are asking, 'What mean ye by these stones?' The answer is, The way out of the wilderness of human beliefs has been revealed."

"The way out of the wilderness," which God has revealed through Christian Science, makes known the true nature of God, man's relationship to Him, and the ever-availability of deific power and its application to human needs. This way is made clear through the understanding of Christ, Truth, which is available to heal, to comfort, to strengthen, and to deliver now as it did in Christ Jesus' time.

Mrs. Eddy, who discovered and founded this practical, healing religion, braved the wilderness of materiality to open up and explore the way whereby mankind can know and understand God. Through a wilderness of tribulation she persevered in her labor of love for humanity's deliverance, bringing to mankind the greatest spiritual benefits since the days of Christ Jesus.
