THE EFFECTIVE QUESTION AND ANSWER METHOD

From the June 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As he studied the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, the writer was interested in noting that our Leader has specifically provided for the teaching of Christian Science in Normal classes convening every three years, in Primary classes held yearly, and in Sunday School classes taught weekly. From his study, he realized that all who are thus authorized to teach have a truly sacred privilege.

The care with which Mrs. Eddy provided the basis of instruction for these classes also came to light as he read. For the Primary class the chapter on Recapitulation in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy is designated; and for the Normal class this chapter, together with the platform beginning on page 330 and ending on page 340 of this textbook, is stipulated. The chapter on Recapitulation consists of questions and answers. Each question awakens one to a specific aspect of Christian Science and leads logically to the next.

Mrs. Eddy's provision for the Sunday School states that the Bible be taught and that specific attention be given to the Ten Commandments (Ex. 20:3-17), the Lord's Prayer (Matt. 6:9-13) and its spiritual interpretation, given in Science and Health, and the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5:3-12).
