Poems

Here and Now

From the June 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I know no fairer place nor time
Than here and now,
Wherein God's presence manifests itself
In peace, in showing how
And where and why Love marks my path, makes plain His will,
Unfolds my destiny.

There is no time more opportune than now
To learn, and to obey
His laws infallible. All firmly, kindly given,
They clear the way,
Ensure true happiness, reveal my present heaven,
Bring rest to me.

Is there, then, a better place than here,
Where I may lovingly
Prove well the rightness of His truth,
Reflect His power,
Live graciously,
Awaken to that Life divine, and know that man exists
In Soul's eternity?
