Since childhood Christian Science has brought many blessings into my experience. While still in school I had a very beautiful healing of a goiter that had troubled me for some time. Many friends and relatives criticized my mother for not allowing me to have surgery, and finally she was persuaded that she was not being a good mother to me.
When she told me that she would make an appointment with a local surgeon the following day, I called the practitioner and persuaded my mother to go with me to see her. The practitioner lovingly reminded her that I was in reality God's child, made in His image and likeness, and that He was the author of my being and responsible for my perfection. My mother's thought was freed from a false sense of responsibility, and we went home rejoicing. Very shortly after that all trace of the goiter disappeared.
I have been healed of blood poisoning, food poisoning, sinus infection, broken bones, severe burns, pneumonia, diabetes, and an abscessed throat. At one time a very painful skin condition appeared on my hands. I worked on this problem by myself for a while; then I asked for help from one of my former Sunday School teachers. She told me that I must love more and guard against being critical of others or of situations. I tried every day to express more love and kindness, especially in little things and ways.
