Testimonies of Healing

I had just begun the practice of reading...

From the May 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I had just begun the practice of reading our weekly Lesson-Sermons from the Quarterly when my first opportunity to use Christian Science presented itself. I had been wrongly accused by a co-worker of intriguing against him, with the result that my position became untenable. I told myself that this was the right time to see how my new religion would work.

Shortly I found myself affirming with great conviction that since man is God's perfect image and likeness, nothing imperfect could really enter into my experience. Then I asked myself what Christ Jesus had taught, and the answer came that he had taught us to turn the other cheek. I decided that the person who was wrongly accusing me should be treated lovingly, and so I apologized to him at the first opportunity for anything I might have unwittingly done to hurt him. That was the end of the difficulty, and harmony was restored.

At another time I noticed that a newly hired assistant drank heavily. I did not want to resort to human steps and just get rid of him, but do what I might, the situation was becoming more and more annoying and real to me. I knew I was not helping the man by expecting to see him under the influence of liquor all the time. My irritation was so great that my feet became affected with eczema, which so disabled me that I could no longer walk.
