During World War II, my husband and I lived in a city that was at certain periods bombed day and night, and we were wonderfully protected although my husband served as an air-raid warden and I as a fire watcher. One occasion stands out.
We had returned from a Sunday evening church service, and our thoughts were therefore close to God, when we heard bombs falling. I was guided to leave the room in which I was preparing to undress for the night, and a few minutes later a heavy bomb fell very close to that part of the house. Although our home was badly damaged, we remained untouched.
I shall ever be grateful for the help and guidance we received from Christian Science when we decided to settle in a new country, leaving behind everything we were acquainted with and all our friends. This move has proved through the years to have been a correct and happy one, for everything has unfolded harmoniously, progress has been achieved, and opportunities for greater church service have opened up for us both.
