I have had many healings through the "prayer of faith," which, we read, "shall save the sick" (James 5: 15). I am thankful for a number of quick healings; but for the one which took many weeks to accomplish, I am perhaps most grateful.
The difficulty, which appeared suddenly one night, began as severe pain in my legs. It persisted with increasing severity for a number of days, and I was gradually losing the use of my legs and could move about only with the use of canes or by leaning on furniture.
When my own prayerful work seemed unavailing, I sought the help of a Christian Science practitioner. In our first conversation he impressed upon me that I must not for an instant consider myself burdened by affliction, but see in the situation an opportunity for spiritual growth, which would be a great blessing to me. I began right away to gain a clearer sense of the comfort in these familiar words from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 66): "Trials are proofs of God's care."
