"THE STARTING—POINT OF DIVINE SCIENCE"

From the August 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The thinking of people everywhere must find a new base, must undergo a radical change, if destructive fear is to be abolished and peace abound. This is obvious from the trend of world events. But where does one begin? Where shall he look? Where can he find this new base for thought and action? In eternal Spirit or in the fleeting forms of matter? Christian Science provides the answers to these questions and many more.

Although fear is at the root of most human problems, the reasons which impel people to search for and find peace in Christian Science are many and varied. With some, it is slavery to sinful habits; with others, a growing dissatisfaction with sterile dogma and creed; and with still others, it is a deep, heartfelt yearning better to understand themselves and the times in which they live. Perhaps the largest number are attracted to Science because of its success in healing through spiritual means alone the minds and bodies of those who come to it for relief.

When an earnest seeker for divine assistance enters the open door of Christian Science, he is often first impressed with the consecration, enthusiasm, and peace of those who are already proving the value of spiritual understanding. But where is he to begin the study of Christian metaphysics?
