FINDING A SUITABLE CAREER

From the August 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Man, as God's expression, is the very embodiment of right activity. He enjoys unlimited ability, explicit direction, and complete and rewarding fruition.

When entering college or when contemplating productive employment, one is not always clear on what course to follow, what subjects to take, or what specific field to enter. What shall I do? Where shall I go? How shall I earn a living? are questions that must eventually be answered if the individual is to be properly educated and happily and gainfully employed.

Seeking and finding a right career is made easy when one turns to God in prayer for guidance and direction in accordance with the teachings of Christian Science. In her work "No and Yes," Mrs. Eddy makes these awakening statements (p. 39): "Prayer can neither change God, nor bring His designs into mortal modes; but it can and does change our modes and our false sense of Life, Love, and Truth, uplifting us to Him. Such prayer humiliates, purifies, and quickens activity, in the direction that is unerring." And in the next paragraph she says, "Prayer begets an awakened desire to be and do good." It is through enlightened prayer, then, that one is given the answer to what to do in finding his right place.
