Fifty years ago Christian Science came to me as an answer to prayer.
When I was a young woman, I began to suffer with facial paralysis. I went to my physician and also a specialist for treatment. After several months of no improvement I began to pray, asking God to send me to the right physician. A close business friend who was a Christian Scientist came to me three times, recommending Christian Science for healing. I finally consented to have just one treatment.
A Christian Science practitioner came and talked with me of God and man. After her prayerful treatment I asked if there was anything she wanted me to do for my face. She said, "Yes, do not look at it." The following morning a friend came to see me and remarked that she could see nothing wrong with me. I was tempted to look in the mirror, but remembering the practitioner's instructions, I didn't. However, I found I could taste, smell, and close my eyes. I was completely healed. When I called the practitioner to thank her, she encouraged me to purchase a copy of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, at a Christian Science Reading Room, to study it, and to attend Christian Science church services and lectures, which I did.
