MOUNTAIN CLIMBING

From the October 1974 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Our base camp is
downstairs.
From there
we look for
a hill of holiness
a mount of joy
a rock of Truth
to ascend.

Sometimes
a passage looks
steep.
I pause
I only to look up
into the laughing eyes
of my young companions
who have bounded up
ahead of me.
Other times a boost
over an obstacle
is welcome.

Then
there are the
wonderful moments when
suddenly
a wide beautiful view
of perfection
unfolds to us all.
We sit quietly
as each
gathers it into
himself.

Yes, it is fun
to climb mountains
in Sunday School!
