Perhaps my life will be an inspiration to others, for I have been a member of The Mother Church for seventy-five years, having joined in 1899. I am now ninety-seven years old.
Before the turn of the century my teacher, a pupil of Mrs. Eddy's, came to my parents' farm home in Iowa, where my mother and father and I had class instruction. Later I married and moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, where I was a member of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. I taught a Sunday School class of girls and boys for many years until we came to California to live.
A few years ago I had an attack of partial blindness while reading. I constantly sang, "God gave me these eyes to see with, and nothing can take my sight from me." In a short time a flash of light came. I took off my glasses and finished reading. I read The Christian Science Monitor and the Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel with ease, and find healing and strength in daily study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. This healing of sight is one of many demonstrations of God's presence with me.
