Demonstrating the oneness of divine Principle and Love

From the March 1983 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A balanced individual is a blessing to everyone. He expresses both the uprightness of divine Principle and the tenderness of divine Love. He is self-disciplined but can yield to the spontaneity of a holy moment. He knows when to speak the merciful word of Love and when to rebuke evil with the firmness of Principle.

How much the world needs such individuals, for they bring the healing qualities of intelligence, intuition, wisdom, and love—a fullness of the divine nature—to everything they do. In order to better demonstrate Christian Science, we might consider just how balanced our own approach to human affairs is.

Unless an individual clearly recognizes the inseparable nature of Principle and Love, he may find himself believing that one of these synonyms for God is more important than the other—that the value of the attributes of Principle outweighs those of Love in some situations or that Love's qualities should always have first consideration.
