Is a Christian Scientist a humanitarian?

From the March 1983 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Divine Love is supreme; it cannot change, err, be influenced or interrupted. Love is God, the sole and universal authority, and man is the expression of Love.

These divine facts, realized, enrich our human expression of love. The tangible demonstration of compassion and affection is vital to growth Spiritward. Mrs. Eddy writes, "A Christian Scientist is a humanitarian; he is benevolent, forgiving, long-suffering, and seeks to overcome evil with good."
Manual of The Mother Church, Art. VIII, Sect. 22.

The expression of love and consideration, based on pure and selfless motives, draws us closer to God. Such living indicates that we're putting into practice what we've been reading in the Bible and the writings of Mrs. Eddy. This living puts the Golden Rule into action. Being humanitarian aims us toward an understanding of God as Love. We progress as we demonstrate the facts of reality that we now perceive.
