Turn envy's challenge into a blessing

From the March 1983 issue of The Christian Science Journal

There is hardly anyone who has not suffered from envying or being envied. The occasions for envy, jealousy, hate, seem manifold. Did our little brother get more ice cream, or a classmate better marks? Is our neighbor more attractive? Our business associate more successful?

Examining these instances, we recognize the suggestions of lack that mortal mind would impose on us: lack of substance, supply, intelligence, health, harmony, love, success.

Thanks to Mrs. Eddy's discovery of Christian Science, we can learn that we are not really little mortal personalities with more or less talent. Instead, we live as perfect ideas of the one, all-governing Mind, God, in the realm of infinite spiritual substance, intelligence, beauty, harmony, joy, love, and infinitely unfolding possibilities. As idea, man is expression or reflection — the perfect effect of the perfect cause, God.
