In Psalm 107:2 "the redeemed of the Lord" are exhorted to praise Him—to observe God's manifold providence over all His creation. His care extends even to the minutest details of life. I have given testimonies at Wednesday evening meetings regularly since determining to rise and voice my gratitude for God's constant care. Now it is a joy to write a testimony for our periodicals.
My introduction to Christian Science came in the form of a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel. It was brought into our home by our young son, who had plucked it out of a Christian Science literature distribution box on his way home from kindergarten one day. I had never heard of the magazine before, but I was impressed by these words on the cover, "What I say unto you I say unto all, Watch" [see Mark 13:37]. I looked down the table of contents page and when I came to an article entitled "There Is No Death" I quickly turned to it. I didn't understand what I read, but I knew in my heart that it was exactly what I had yearned for, having always rebelled against the thought of the reality of sin, sickness, and death.
I read another article or two and then went outside to carry out a needed task. In the process I lost my balance and stepped down hard on the edge of our concrete driveway. I heard my ankle crack and felt excruciating pain. But instantly two words from what I had read in the Sentinel flashed in my consciousness like a neon sign: "no accidents." And just as quickly the pain faded away. I put all my weight on the foot—I even jumped up and down on it. There was no pain. In that moment of wonder and glory I said, "Well, what do you know—it works!" From that day on, I raided every Christian Science literature distribution box I saw!
