Some years ago during a severe housing shortage, my husband and I were living with his parents in a southern state. After looking for work for a long time, we were both finally hired by an airline company in another state. Our employer informed us that there were no accommodations in that town, and that we should stay where we were for another three months; the jobs would be waiting for us.
We could not wait that long for work and knew that if God had led us to find this work, He would lead us to find a place to live. So we packed our few belongings and drove to the new city. Our employer was very surprised indeed when we appeared after being told there was nowhere to live. On the trip I had been praying diligently in Christian Science to understand the fact that "in him [God] we live, and move, and have our being" (Acts). I was sure God would take care of us.
The first thing we did upon arrival was visit a real estate office, only to have it reaffirmed that there was nothing for rent in the entire city. We then visited the only practitioner in the area, who said she would pray with us to help us gain a clearer sense of the fact that man dwells in the kingdom of God.
