Throughout my experience I’ve learned firsthand that thought and action are forever connected. When thought is imbued with spiritual power and purity, amazing opportunities for good are possible.
Take, for example, the building of the Extension of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, which was dedicated in June of 1906. At one point in the construction process, James J. Rome, a devoted student of Christian Science, was asked to be a night watchman at the unfinished edifice.
As time passed, Mr. Rome had to contend with growing doubts and fears that must have been shared by many, as to whether the work could be completed on time. In his case, this temptation to doubt turned into powerful prayer.
