Testimonies of Healing
Through a friend I took up the study of Christian Science about twelve years ago for a physical healing. I felt that I was perfectly satisfied with my own church, but if Christian Science could heal me I should be very grateful and go on my way rejoicing.
For nineteen years I have earnestly endeavored to demonstrate what Job meant when he said, "Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace;" and in proportion to my obedience to the understanding of God which has unfolded to me, I have found that peace which passes understanding, and which the world can neither give nor take away. Many trials and difficulties have beset me on the way, but these have only served to make me seek more earnestly a still closer acquaintance with God, and to know and live the truth which Jesus said would make us free.
Words seem inadequate to express the deep gratitude I feel towards Christian Science for the many blessings I have received since I turned to this wonderful truth, which indeed sets men free. I have been instantaneously healed of a floating kidney after being told by three medical doctors that an operation was the only means of relief.
Filled with great joy and gratitude, I am writing this testimony in order to give, perhaps, to someone hopelessly sick, as I was, courage and confidence. In February, 1924, I was taken seriously ill.
It had been my earnest desire for years to overcome the many discords that manifested themselves from early childhood, but try as hard as I might I was unable to overcome them until I began the study of Christian Science. About five years ago I was advised by a loving Christian Science friend to purchase the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
It is with a heart overflowing with thanks to God and gratitude to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, that I give this testimony. I had been in a deplorable condition for ten years and had been given up by more than fifty doctors, surgeons, and specialists.
I am grateful for Christian Science because I have found it not only a practical, but a satisfying religion; a religion that shows us how to work out our own salvation, or in other words to understand our true relationship to God and to see man as God made him—perfect, harmonious; a religion that when rightfully put into practice solves and adjusts our every need, physical, moral, mental. About seven years ago I came into Christian Science for a healing of hay fever, with which I had been troubled for fourteen years, never sleeping from eleven o'clock at night until four in the morning. I was divinely led to ask a practitioner for help.
I heard of Christian Science for the first time in 1914, and was healed in three treatments of a very serious complaint. Before I knew of Christian Science I had consulted several doctors; but they did not express themselves frankly, and only told me that the glands of my neck were swollen.
I wish to express my gratitude for blessings received through Christian Science. Thirty-five years ago I had an attack of grippe from which I did not at that time recover fully.
