Testimonies of Healing

"One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. " This verse from Psalms arouses in one an intense feeling of gratitude for the countless blessings Christian Science has brought, and a keen desire to declare for the benefit of others some of these "mighty acts.

In 1918 I was suffering from a nervous breakdown. I weighed ninety-seven pounds, and had gradually settled into a state of depression from which nerve specialists, relatives, and friends seemed unable to arouse me.

Christian Science was first presented to me by a friend over six years ago, when I was in much distress. I could not bear my weight on my left foot; in fact, for a year I could not step without severe pain in one side.

I did not at first take up Christian Science for healing, but for the help it would give me in understanding the Bible; however, from the first knowledge I gained of the truth, I have been able to depend on it for the overcoming of every discord, and have always experienced healing. Our three children, aged nineteen, sixteen, and fourteen years, have known nothing but this Science, and are learning to use their knowledge of the truth at all times.

Before I knew anything of Christian Science I was suffering from nervous prostration, and had been for seven years. Will-power enabled me to drag wearily through my daily duties, unhappy and discontented.

I am more grateful than words can express for my first healing through the application of Christian Science, which occurred about ten years ago. From early childhood I usually had two or three attacks of tonsillitis each winter.

It is with a heart filled with gratitude I am writing this testimony of the many blessings and healings Christian Science has brought to me. The knowledge that God is ever present has given me peace, contentment, and joy.

For many years I have read and enjoyed the testimonies of others in The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel, and I have rejoiced and thanked God that this wonderful truth has come to our age to bring deliverance to all who seek it. I did not take up Christian Science for physical healing for myself, though I needed it very much, but began to study with a dear one to help him; and in doing so I was seeking my own in another's good, for in a very short time I found I had been healed of valvular heart disease and an internal disorder which had troubled me for many years.

Hoping that someone may be helped by reading this testimony I would gratefully acknowledge the wonderful benefits I have received through the ministrations of Christian Science. My health had been poor for a long time, and two years previous to my healing I had been in a hospital and operated on for a malignant growth.

Filled with gratitude for Christian Science, I wish to testify to the wonderful manner in which my life was saved. In November, 1923, I was suddenly taken very ill with a serious attack of appendicitis and pleurisy.
