Testimonies of Healing

With a heart full of gratitude I wish to tell of a demonstration over what seemed to be impending death. On one occasion my husband was taken with severe pain in the bowels and in less than an hour said he was dying.

Surely I have abundant reason to be grateful for Christian Science, not only for the many healings it has accomplished for me, but for the way in which a faithful study of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, has corrected my thinking in all directions.

I rejoice that I can truthfully say that the healing both of my wife and myself is just as she has related it, and is permanent. Christian Science has proved itself to be "the power of God" over and over again in our home, and we are truly grateful.

It is about seventeen years since my first healing in Christian Science came as a most blessed experience. I had been a great sufferer from asthma and lung trouble and had been told by my physician, who was always faithful in his efforts to help me, that he could do nothing more than relieve me temporarily.

About twelve years ago I was invited to attend the Christian Science church services with some friends. I became interested in the teaching and soon took up the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs.

Four years ago two active, loyal students of Christian Science took its gospel of health to a home where it was unknown. For several years the members of this home had been in great mental and physical distress, for which every material means had been tried, but conditions only grew worse.

When Christian Science was first called to my attention, I knew absolutely nothing about this teaching, and having no faith in Christianity or in God, felt quite sure it could not interest me. We were then in the Northwest, and had been there only a short time when we began to hear of Christian Science from many sources and to read in the papers about the work that was being done.

Having had many proofs in our family of the healing power of Truth, I am very glad to relate a special case in which healing was wrought through Christian Science. About a year and a half ago my brother came from Bremen to Herford for a rest, having suffered for a long time with his head; but instead of experiencing relief, as he had hoped, his condition grew so serious that he had to seek medical advice.

When Christian Science came to me my baby was nine months old, and while he was a healthy child I was hardly able to be up at all. A friend had asked me why I did not see a practitioner, but I knew nothing about Christian Science.

When Christian Science first found me three years ago, I was a sufferer from ulcers of the stomach and bowels, which the doctors told me could not be cured. They said all they could do was to burn them out.
