Testimonies of Healing

FIVE years ago last December, while in Oklahoma, I was taken ill, and when we returned home in the spring I grew rapidly worse. A physician was consulted, and after taking medicine for a short time I was confined to the bed with a fever.

I came into Christian Science for moral betterment. From childhood I was fond of alcoholic drink and tobacco in all forms, and as I grew older the appetite increased.

Christian Science has proved a great blessing to my family and myself. I cannot begin to tell of the many wonderful healings we have experienced in our home.

Deep gratitude impels me to tell of what Christian Science has done for me. In April, 1906, I had the misfortune to injure my right foot and ankle, and as a result was obliged to use crutches for nearly three years.

Over a year ago, when I began the study of Christian Science, I was in a very serious condition, having been told by three of our local physicians that I had an abnormal growth and must undergo an operation, the sooner the better. I was very much distressed, but soon after this, when conditions seemed hopeless and an operation the only means of relief, Christian Science came to me through a friend who is following its teachings, and who had given me literature to read at different times.

I would like to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has taught and is teaching me each day. I did not come into Christian Science for the healing, but because I saw that those who studied it had something I did not have, and something they did not have before they began to study it, and I wanted to know what that something was.

In gratitude to our loving Father for the understanding of Christian Science I write the following testimony. I had worn glasses constantly for sixteen years for defective sight, said by the oculist to be hereditary, and was just waiting to get stronger glasses when through the loving work of a dear friend I was instantaneously healed and experienced a wonderful spiritual uplift.

I have been an adherent of Christian Science for quite a while and would like to tell of the benefits derived therefrom. About a year ago, around Christmas, my eight year old boy became afflicted with a diseased condition of the tonsils, the swelling being very large and hard.

A little over four years ago I began the study of Christian Science. For more than ten years prior to that time I had been under the care of different doctors, some of them specialists, on account of a throat affection and a cough, accompanied by pleurisy in a very serious form.

Christian Science has been a great blessing in my life. It has helped me to work out many difficult problems at times when mortal sense cried out that the burden was too heavy to bear.
