Testimonies of Healing

It is with a heart overflowing with love and gratitude to God for the many benefits received in Christian Science that I add my testimony to the ever increasing list in our periodicals. In youth I was affected with some kind of spinal trouble.

Nearly five years ago I was left suddenly without a home and as I then thought without friends; but this was not true. God sent me a friend, a Christian Scientist, in whose home I have since resided, and wherein I have enjoyed all the privileges of a member of the family.

It is with a deep feeling of gratitude that I send this testimony, having had innumerable proofs of the efficacy of Christian Science. I was healed of pleurisy in two absent treatments.

I did not come into Christian Science primarily for physical healing, though in great need of it. For several years I had been in ill health, and notwithstanding my faith in materia medica, all that could be done for me by men of high standing in the medical profession failed to cure me, and my condition gradually grew worse.

With deep gratitude I think of our wonderful deliverance and guidance out of utter darkness into the radiant light of divine Love. Some three years ago my daughter, now twenty two years old, became very ill.

About the first of July, 1912, I was taken sick with a fever and severe pain in the abdomen. I sent for a Christian Science practitioner, who treated the case for a few days but, the thought that the trouble might be contagious decided us to call in a physician in compliance with the Massachusetts law requiring contagious cases to be reported.

It seems fitting that I should express my gratitude for the many benefits the study of Christian Science has brought and is bringing to me. I am especially grateful that our revered Leader, Mrs.

During an epidemic of scarlet fever I manifested all the symptoms of the disease, and as Christian Scientists are taught to obey the laws, the board of health was notified and I went into quarantine. As we obeyed all the rules, I was confined to one room for several weeks, but no material remedies were used.

It is with profound gratitude to God and with a sense of great indebtedness to our revered Leader that I wish to tell of my healing in Christian Science. Until four years ago, the time when I became acquainted with this teaching, I was afflicted with near-sightedness and weak eyesight, said to have been caused by pressure at birth.

Christian Science has indeed been a great help to me. I had felt for years that the promises of Christ Jesus should be fulfilled at the present time, but I knew of no one who could help me to realize them, and did not know how to apply them to my needs.
