Testimonies of Healing

I feel it is my duty to give testimony to what Christian Science has done for us. It was in the summer of 1912 that we took up its study, and I am very thankful to God that I was led to it at the time when all other help seemed to fail.

I came to Christian Science a hopeless creature as regards my physical condition, never expecting to be well; but that was not the reason for my turning to it, as I had come to think that sickness was part of my life. I was supposed to have inherited heart disease and lung trouble from my mother, and was under the care of physicians all my life up to the time above stated.

Before coming into Christian Science it seemed as if there was nothing for me to live for. I was a nervous wreck, the greatest trouble being my back, for there was not an hour when awake that I was not conscious of it.

It is with a heart overflowing with love and gratitude to God for the many benefits received in Christian Science that I add my testimony to the ever increasing list in our periodicals. In youth I was affected with some kind of spinal trouble.

A few years ago I was taken, according to medical diagnosis, with pleurisy combined with acute lung trouble. The first physician helped me so that I was able to do a little light housework, but I soon began to grow worse.

Nearly five years ago I was left suddenly without a home and as I then thought without friends; but this was not true. God sent me a friend, a Christian Scientist, in whose home I have since resided, and wherein I have enjoyed all the privileges of a member of the family.

It is with a deep feeling of gratitude that I send this testimony, having had innumerable proofs of the efficacy of Christian Science. I was healed of pleurisy in two absent treatments.

I did not come into Christian Science primarily for physical healing, though in great need of it. For several years I had been in ill health, and notwithstanding my faith in materia medica, all that could be done for me by men of high standing in the medical profession failed to cure me, and my condition gradually grew worse.

About the first of July, 1912, I was taken sick with a fever and severe pain in the abdomen. I sent for a Christian Science practitioner, who treated the case for a few days but, the thought that the trouble might be contagious decided us to call in a physician in compliance with the Massachusetts law requiring contagious cases to be reported.

With deep gratitude I think of our wonderful deliverance and guidance out of utter darkness into the radiant light of divine Love. Some three years ago my daughter, now twenty two years old, became very ill.
