Testimonies of Healing

For more than sixteen years I was afflicted with varicose veins. Different physicians were consulted here and abroad to very little or no avail.

I WAS a volunteer during the Spanish-American war and served one year in the Philippine Islands. The duties of my position took me among all classes of people and into every condition of life.

For many years I suffered untold agony from a supposedly incurable organic disease which kept me in bed a considerable part of the time. I also had a growth in the breast that returned within a year after it had been removed by a surgical operation.

I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, but was drawn to it by seeing that those of my friends who had turned to it seemed to have found what I had long sought, namely, a satisfying religion. Early in life I became a member of a church, and for years lived conscientiously by its teachings.

When Christian Science came to me through a niece who had been healed after exhausting the aid of materia medica , I was suffering from a number of diseases. Some were pronounced incurable, and I dreaded a second operation.

It is a little more than a year since I first turned to Christian Science for physical healing, and found God. I had been an invalid for years, and for months at a time was completely helpless from a severe spinal trouble.

I want to express my gratitude for the healing I have received through Christian Science. Several years ago a soreness of the feet came on and there was no cessation of the pain, so that both standing and walking became difficult.

After having had two operations and ten years' treatment in materiel medica I was told by two doctors of excellent reputation in Brooklyn and New York that the operations were failures, and one physician said it would be a year before I was strong enough to undergo another. "Then," he added, "we will have a radical operation and straighten things out.

Ten years ago Christian Science saved me from an operation for tubercular glands. I was very grateful for this, and from my first treatment to this day have never had a doctor or used a drop of medicine, not even a hand lotion, although previous to that time I had suffered from September to May each year with chapped hands.
