Testimonies of Healing

I first became interested in Christian Science by reading a criticism of it which made me wish to know what it really was. I had a friend that I knew was interested in its teaching, so I went to her and asked to borrow a copy of Science and Health.

After a long period of silence, due to the fact that I desired to be absolutely certain that I was healed, I am impelled to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. In doing so, I desire to express my thankfulness to God, also my gratitude to those dear friends who were the means of showing me the way, and who so loyally stood by me in the face of strong antagonism on my part.

SEVERAL years ago I came into Christian Science, or rather was taken to it, and was healed. My ailment was the direct result of an accident aboard a large ship.

In studying Jesus' query, "Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?" I felt as if I was classed among the nine, for it has been about eight years since I came to Christian Science for healing, and although I have been very thankful, I have never before sent in a testimony. For a long time I had a desire to unite with The Mother Church, but as I could not demonstrate much for myself, this seeming lack prevented me from taking the step.

In Psalms we read: "What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me? I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people.

It is with a grateful heart that I try to tell of the blessings I have received in Christian Science. A few years ago I was suffering from lung trouble, and in 1910 my doctor told me he had done all he could for me.

In many ways I have tried to show my thankfulness to God for Christian Science, but I have neglected to send my testimony for publication. Now I wish to tell of some of the ills from which I have been freed.

For thirteen years I was very much afflicted nervously, and during the first few years I had to go to a sanitarium twice. While there, an abdominal fever set in; and though I was dismissed one year later, I was not actually restored, for during the following period of about twelve years the trouble asserted itself for six months every year.

Many times I have been asked to send my testimony for publication, for I was healed in Christian Science after nearly thirty years of suffering, and it seemed as if I should express my gratitude, as others are doing who are rejoicing in a similar experience. I suffered torture from sciatica; also was compelled to wear low shoes for fifteen years on account of cramping muscles, any pressure about the ankles causing unbearable pain.

It is now nearly six years since I became interested in Christian Science and bought its text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, with the thought that three dollars was all I could lose.
