Testimonies of Healing
I have been so blessed in my experience by the application of Christian Science that I must share my heart's overflow in the hope it may help others to see what great good lies right where we are now, revealing itself to the awakened spiritual understanding. I have known Christian Science all my life; I was enrolled in the Sunday School of a branch church at the age of two years and attended regularly until I was twenty.
When Christian Science was first presented to me and a copy of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, was sent to me, I had no inclination to study it.
Christian Science found me, or reasserted itself in my experience, on the sands of the Fiji Islands about seven years ago. My grandmother had been a devout student of this Science, and as a child I had attended the Christian Science Sunday School.
I wish to express my profound gratitude for Christian Science. I did not become interested in it for physical healing, but because I was looking for a satisfying, practical religion that could be relied upon.
" Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits" ( Ps. 103:2 ).
Twenty years ago our family was introduced to Christian Science through my brother's instantaneous healing of what was diagnosed as acute appendicitis. This healing came about after one visit by a Christian Science practitioner.
Many years ago I was given a Christian Science Hymnal. I was indeed happy to receive it, because at that time I did not have the money to buy one.
With the Psalmist I sing ( Ps. 9:1 ), "I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart.
In spite of very earnest efforts in early life to gain salvation, all I ever gleaned from the Bible was this statement in the first two verses of Genesis: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
When I was a child at boarding school, I was taken ill with what the doctors diagnosed as a serious disease of the heart. I was sent home and from that time was not allowed to run about, play games, swim, dance, or in any other way exert myself.
