Testimonies of Healing
It is with a heart filled with gratitude that I desire to let others know what Christian Science has done for me. I was reared in an orthodox religion by Christian parents, and I was taught to study the Bible, but I could not understand why God did not answer prayers and heal as in Bible times.
In humble gratitude I can say with Job ( 19:25 ), "I know that my redeemer liveth. " I had the privilege of growing up in a Christian Science home and was healed of numerous so-called childhood ailments.
I would not be here today if it were not for Christian Science. Over twenty years ago I was gaunt and haggard and was losing weight rapidly.
" Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" ( Matt. 6:33 ).
Christian Science has made life whole and beautiful for me. A patient practitioner explained so clearly to me the meeting of the human and the divine that I could not fail to grasp its meaning.
" Gratitude unexpressed is ingratitude. " These words, spoken at a meeting of branch church members which I attended, have remained in my consciousness and now impel me to give my testimony.
With the Psalmist I can sing ( Ps. 16:6 ), "The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
With great love and humility I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for all that it has done for me and mine for many years. As a young girl I started attending a Christian Science Sunday School at my mother's recommendation.
I have had so many blessings through the healing power of Christian Science that I desire to relate some to them in the hope that they may encourage those who are seeking healing in Christian Science. I first heard of this Science toward the end of the Second World War, when a neighbor gave me some copies of the Christian Science Sentinel to read.
My introduction to Christian Science came when I was engaged as soloist in a midwestern Church of Christ, Scientist, some years ago. I was told that the solo should be appropriate to the Lesson-Sermon for the week in the Christian Science Quarterly.
