Testimonies of Healing
About thirty-five years ago I was having serious trouble with my eyes. An uncle who was a prominent medical doctor recognized the nature of the problem and recommended that I consult an eye specialist.
During the many years since I first heard of Christian Science I have been continuously grateful for the guidance, supply, health, and well-being that I have experienced through the study and application of this great truth. I wish to relate my recovery from a difficulty which occurred one time in the middle of the night.
After the passing of my younger brother in the First World War my grief was overwhelming. One day I saw some people going into a Church of Christ, Scientist, and I decided to attend the service there.
In the Preface to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy makes this statement ( p x ): "The divine Principle of healing is proved in the personal experience of any sincere seeker of Truth.
I wish to bear witness to the fact that the Christ, Truth, as revealed to us in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, will heal the sick; solve business, home, and financial problems; and bring to the student a degree of happiness and success proportionate to his fidelity and honesty of purpose.
The testimonies of healing given in the Christian Science periodicals have been helpful and inspiring to me for many years, and in gratitude I should like to tell of two healings I have experienced through wholehearted reliance on Truth. One healing was instantaneous—that of oak poisoning which covered both legs; it took place soon after I became interested in Christian Science.
A healing for which I am most grateful was that of a serious heart condition, which had persisted off and on for several years. Before it finally yielded, I had to have frequent help from a Christian Science practitioner.
Before taking up the study of Christian Science about twenty-seven years ago, I was suffering from various complaints. I had been taking different types of medicines and other treatments.
It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I give this testimony. My parents turned to the beautiful religion of Christian Science for the healing of my twin sister and me when we were babies.
Christian Science has made demonstrable the prophet Isaiah's words( 40:31 ), "They shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. " I am grateful indeed for God's love and protection, which guide us through our everyday affairs, and for the vitalizing, spiritual force which makes it possible to run the daily race without finding it wearisome or to walk the daily way without yielding to a sense of burden.
