Testimonies of Healing
About twenty-seven years ago I picked up a friend's copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, the textbook of Christian Science, and read a few pages in the chapter on Prayer.
To attempt with words an expression of gratitude for the blessings Christian Science has poured into my life would be like trying to describe the beauty of a full-blown rose wet with the early morning dew, or to convey the joy and happiness on the face of a little child greeting a loved one after a long absence. The many physical healings have included safe passage through "the valley of the shadow of death" for myself and our younger daughter, complete freedom from a sinus infection of many years' standing which had caused years of great pain and suffering, as well as the overcoming of countless minor physical discomforts.
For the Christian Science Sunday School and for the consecrated teachers from whom I received a firm foundation for my study and application of this Science, I shall always be most grateful. I am especially grateful that in Christian Science we have a practical religion.
Through the study and practice of Christian Science I have experienced many physical healings, and the way has opened to a much richer and fuller life. I wish to express my gratitude to God for Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and for Mrs.
Over thirty years ago, while I was studying music in the East, I became interested in Christian Science. The study and application of its rules, as given to the world by Mrs.
It is with joy and gratitude that I bear witness to the healing power of Christian Science. I did not come into Science for physical healing, but because I felt disillusioned, insecure, and unhappy.
" When the sick or the sinning awake to realize their need of what they have not, they will be receptive of divine Science, which gravitates towards Soul and away from material sense, removes thought from the body, and elevates even mortal mind to the contemplation of something better than disease or sin. The true idea of God gives the true understanding of Life and Love, robs the grave of victory, takes away all sin and the delusion that there are other minds, and destroys mortality" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p.
Although I was brought up in Christian Science, I allowed a sense of ingratitude to come into my thinking, and as a result I seldom studied Science of my own volition. When I left home to attend school, I thought I was too busy to give any time to God, and I allowed my thought to become deeply engrossed in materiality while studying engineering.
A friend who is a Christian Scientist gave my husband two books, the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, telling him that these books contained the answer to all our problems.
I found Christian Science to be the answer to my search for a true and practical religion. As a child I had attended several Protestant Sunday Schools, and later, after I had investigated many different religions, I recognized that Christian Science is the truth.
