Testimonies of Healing
Over thirteen years ago we lived in a southern city, where I was a member of a Church of Christ, Scientist. I was also the chairman of a committee that had planned a meeting to which the entire membership was invited and for which much prayerful preparation work had been done.
" O give thanks unto the Lord, for lie is good.
It is a joy to me to be able to testify to the fruits of Christian Science. When my father was taken seriously ill in 1934, a friend called my attention to this Science.
I wish to take this opportunity to express m) gratitude to God for revealing Christian Science to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
I am grateful that I was brought up according to the teachings of Christian Science and attended the Sunday School until I was twenty years of age. When I was a young child, I broke my leg in two places.
When Christian Science was presented to me, I was under the care of three doctors for a skin disease. After spending two weeks in a hospital I was taken to a boardinghouse, where a kind gentleman asked me if I would care to try Christian Science.
When Christian Science was presented to me, I was lying in a hospital in Norway, where I had been for nine months, a mental and physical wreck with no hope of ever recovering or of rising from the depths of suffering, fear, and despondency. I was, according to medical diagnosis, suffering from a severe nervous breakdown with complications.
For many years I have read the testimonies of healing in the Christian Science periodicals. I am very grateful for the inspiration I have received from them, and it is now my desire to express gratitude to God through the periodicals also.
I first heard of Christian Science in 1943, and two years later I found myself relying on the truths that are embodied in this religion. My mother-in-law had been sending me the religious articles from The Christian Science Monitor, but I never seemed to have time to read them until, upon a routine physical examination, my husband, a pilot, had been informed by several physicians that he had a severe case of diabetes and would never be able to fly again.
In deep gratitude for having proved in some measure "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding" ( Phil. 4:7 ), I submit this testimony.
