Testimonies of Healing

In humble gratitude to God and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, I should like to give the following testimony. One morning our son, who was recovering from an attack of influenza, suddenly and without warning was taken alarmingly ill.

It is with a deep sense of gratitude to God and to the beloved Discoverer, Founder, and forever Leader of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, that I give this testimony. The service of the orthodox church which I attended always seemed vague to me, and I thought of God as a powerful personage in some far-off place.

Christian Science was presented to me over thirty years ago, and it has been my only physician since that time. During my boyhood I attended various Protestant Sunday Schools and churches, but did not find that for which I was seeking.

It is with a heart full of gratitude that I should like to thank God, who led me to Christian Science many years ago. I was not looking for release from sickness, but wanted to know what God is and why we had to wait for the experience called death before we could be truly happy—as I believed we did.

Twenty-two years ago after I had failed to heal a badly infected hand through my then slight understanding of Christian Science, the services of an experienced practitioner were sought. The difficulty did not yield at once, and Christian Science treatment was continued.

It has been my privilege to be a student of Christian Science since 1909. During these years I have been sincerely grateful for the way Christian Science came into my life, because it early revealed to me that God answers prayer when we pray with true motives.

I was brought up in the Protestant faith, and as a young girl I often thought how wonderful it would be if the healings of Jesus' time could be experienced in the present day. My parents believed Christian Science had to do with will power, and they were antagonistic to it; and because I believed what I had heard of Mrs.

I am most grateful for the friend who lent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The chapter on Prayer healed me of apprehension regarding my oldest brother, a soldier who was crossing perilous seas during the First World War.

For many years I have leaned on God, and my life has been full of blessings. Over four years ago a dear sister passed on very suddenly of heart trouble.
