Testimonies of Healing
On page 1 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy has written, "Desire is prayer. " As I look back on my healing, I realize that I desired truth even more than healing, but thought, because I was taking medicine, that I would be a hypocrite to study Christian Science.
In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" ( p. 3 ) Mary Baker Eddy asks this question: "Are we really grateful for the good already received?" In reply to that question I wish to tell of the bountiful blessings I have received through the application of Christian Science.
A hymn in the Christian Science Hymnal ( No. 249 ) reads: Our gratitude is riches, Complaint is poverty.
I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science. About ten years ago I was led to take up its study for the healing of a spinal trouble that I had had since childhood.
For years each fall I was the victim of eczema. It appeared on one of my arms, at first mildly, but increasing in inflammation and irritation over a period of some months.
It is with humble gratitude to God for His wonderful blessings that I send this testimony. For a long time I had been troubled with varicose veins, and some months before I heard of Christian Science an ulcerated condition appeared on my leg.
" Gratitude is much more than a verbal expression of thanks. Action expresses more gratitude than speech.
About four years ago I began studying Christian Science because I was greatly disturbed over inharmony existing between two members of my family. One of them had been ill for a number of years and had turned against the other.
I humbly submit this testimony in gratitude to God for the many proofs I have had of the healing efficacy of Christian Science and for the solution of innumerable problems of all kinds through the application of the truth revealed in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. It was my privilege, when a young teacher, to live in the home of an earnest student of Christian Science for three years.
For the many blessings that Christian Science has brought into my life, I have waited too long to express my gratitude in writing. Having been reared in a Christian Science home and having been a student of this Science for many years, I am able to testify to the fact that an understanding of God, gained through Christian Science, heals one of physical disorders, as well as every other inharmony that seems to invade daily experience.
