Testimonies of Healing
The reading of the testimonies in the Christian Science publications has always been a great source of encouragement to me, so I am sending in my testimony in the hope that it may help someone as I have been helped. It is more than twenty years since I first became interested in Christian Science, and it has never failed when properly applied.
In June, 1938, while I was out riding with my niece, we met with an automobile accident, in which the car was overturned. I was taken unconscious to a hospital, where my condition was found to be very serious.
At this particular period, when we are finding the testimonies so very helpful and inspiring, I should like to give mine. I began the study of Christian Science with the desire to learn of its nature and teaching.
It is with a grateful heart that I testify to the healing power of Christian Science. Following a somewhat difficult time and considerable overwork, I had a severe nervous breakdown.
I want to add this testimony to the many already published in the Christian Science periodicals. I am grateful for the good unfolded to me in the light of Christian Science.
I feel impelled to express my gratitude at this time for the Christian Science Wartime Activities and to the Christian Science Wartime Ministers in the various camps throughout the country. I should like to express gratitude for a couple of healings I experienced during my training period in the Army.
Through the study and application of Christian Science, it has been my great joy to experience many healings and to feel "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding. " My first healing took place a few months after I began attending the Christian Science Sunday School.
I am very grateful for this opportunity to express gratitude for the many blessings I have received through the study and application of Christian Science. I can truly say that Christian Science heals.
My first introduction to Christian Science came when, as a boy, I was enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School early in the year 1908. For a number of years later on, owing to environment and association, I did not take a very active interest in Science.
In 1908 I felt as Job did when Eliphaz, speaking of God, said to him, "Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace. " Job could only cry out in answer, "Oh that I knew where I might find him!" When I first turned to this truth for help, I was in extreme distress.
