Testimonies of Healing

In our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy has given us, in the chapter entitled "Fruitage," one hundred pages of testimonies of healings brought about through the reading of the textbook.

" In Christian Science, a denial of Truth is fatal, while a just acknowledgment of Truth and of what it has done for us is an effectual help," writes Mary Baker Eddy on page 372 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. " "For some time I have been wanting to bear testimony to the wonderful healing I experienced through Christian Science.

Twelve years of constant adherence to Christian Science have brought many proofs of the truth that sets men free from bondage to material sense. Truth has healed me of many ills, such as pleurisy, colds, influenza, resentment, and ear trouble.

As a child I craved something higher than the orthodox churches gave me. I asked many questions which were never answered to my satisfaction, and so I kept going from one church to another until I finally gave up going to church entirely.

Prior to May, 1904, I had heard the name Christian Science, but knew nothing of its significance or its promise. It was while I was on my way to an appointment with a physician for an examination and treatment for eye trouble that I noticed on a doorway in the office building the words, "Christian Science Reading Room-Welcome.

Christian Science is teaching me to understand the Bible. As a child I attended a Christian Science Sunday School with friends, and learned enough about the truth so that I turned to it for help some fifteen years later, when my home and loved ones were threatened by error of many kinds.

My gratitude for the many blessings which have been bestowed upon me since I became interested in Christian Science is beyond expression. It has met my daily needs and been a protection in two car accidents.

Only as I regarded each new experience, no matter how difficult it seemed, as an opportunity to prove God's ever-presence and loving care and the consequent nothingness and powerlessness of evil to disturb or darken the glorious, were joy and freedom maintained "with signs following. " When I received a telephone call that my son had a broken collarbone that was being set by the doctor (owing to the regulation of the university football team), instantly the "still small voice" came to me, saying, "Man's unity with God is unbroken.

I became interested in Christian Science about eight years ago, when I was suffering from a nervous condition. The healing has been gradual, but from the beginning of my study I found more and more harmony coming into my experience.

As a young girl, I attended an orthodox Sunday school, but never felt that it was meeting my need. A few years later I had tonsillitis, and my mother, who had told me something of Christian Science, asked whether I wanted a doctor or Christian Science.
