Testimonies of Healing

Seventeen years ago, on New Year's Eve, I turned wholeheartedly to Christian Science, thereby taking the most important step in my life. That very night I received an instantaneous healing of constipation and hemorrhoids of years' standing, while reading a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel.

Christian Science has been my only physician for the past fifty years, and during this time I have witnessed many proofs of its healing and protecting power. About forty years ago I was healed of acute blood poisoning through the help of a Christian Science practitioner, whose loving-kindness and patience have always meant a great deal to me.

Christian Science came to me at a time when I needed it greatly. During the midst of the depression, I asked a friend about Christian Science, for I wanted an answer to the problem of existence.

Searching always for the reason for humanity's woes, perplexed by seeing those who strove to lead a godly life so often stricken by pain and loss, failing to get satisfactory explanations from the teachings of the church to which I belonged, I looked into every ology that came my way, but still found no answer. The time came when the foundations of all that stands for the human idea of a useful, happy life were tottering; and later, when nearly everything had been swept away, I had to part from a child most dear to me.

Because I have often received encouragement from the testimonies of others, gratitude to God impels me to tell of my experience with Christian Science. Christian Science has healed me of severe bowel disorder and also of sick headaches.

A testimony is one way of showing gratitude to God, and I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science in this way. Over two years ago, when Christian Science was first brought to me by a dear friend, I had just been through four operations in an attempt to regain my health.

My earnest desire is to help spread the truth, as revealed by Christian Science, to my fellow man, and it is with this thought in mind that I give the following testimony of the healing power of the Christ, Truth. About six years ago I was ill with what the doctor called pneumonitis.
