
Testimonies of Healing
I have been helped so much through Christian Science that I feel it is my duty to acknowledge its benefits in a testimony. I became interested in this Science about sixteen years ago, when a Christian Science practitioner asked me to deliver a message to a friend who was to have an operation.
I wish to express my sincere gratitude for Christian Science and for all that it has meant to me in the last twenty-five years. It has proved to me the truth of the statement in Psalms, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
In 1906 a friend advised my wife to try Christian Science for the healing of headaches which were of frequent occurrence, very severe, and of long duration. After one present treatment, given by a Christian Science practitioner, this condition vanished, never to return.
Words alone can never convey an adequate sense of the gratitude I have for Christian Science. It has met my every need for many years, and is teaching me that my real need is, now and always, for spiritual understanding.
For the healings I have experienced and witnessed through the application of Christian Science I wish to express my sincere gratitude to God. On page 454 of the textbook, Science and Health, Mrs.
Christian Science came into our family with its healing message more than half a century ago. We were living in the West, in a section of the country which was primitive, and where even the bare necessities of living were not abundant.
Christian Science has brought me so much real happiness and contentment that I feel I should no longer delay a written expression of my gratitude and love for its teachings. When it was first presented to me I did not accept Christian Science, and I had in my possession a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy for several years before taking up the study of it in earnest.
" Gratitude is much more than a verbal expression of thanks. Action expresses more gratitude than speech.
In the year 1910, while attending a picnic with some friends, I first learned of Christian Science. We had been swimming and playing games, and when the time came for luncheon I made the remark that I was very tired, and asked a little four-year-old boy if he also was not tired.
Christian Science came to me in an hour of great need. It came to me as an answer to prayer for something beyond and outside of my human selfhood.
