Testimonies of Healing

It is now about twenty-five years since I read the Christian Science lecture which enlightened my darkened sense and convinced me that this Science was the answer to my long search for Truth. However, because so great salvation as Christian Science promises seemed much too good to be true, I was slow to accept it, and I challenged each statement as I read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, for the first time.

When I was nine years old my mother first became interested in Christian Science. A friend had told her that in the Christian Science Sunday School children were taught to be unafraid.

It is with the deepest sense of love and humility that I take this opportunity to express gratitude to my heavenly Father for the many blessings received through my understanding of the teachings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. I have had many beautiful healings through the ministrations of Christian Science.

It is with gratitude that I acknowledge the healing of ills and the unfoldment of spiritual ideas, which have resulted from the study of God and man as revealed in Christian Science. Many years ago Christian Science was brought to my attention on different occasions, and though I rejected it I made a mental reservation that if the need became extreme I would investigate this religion and the promise it gave to those in distress, a promise which friends believed it fulfilled.

My mother began the study of Christian Science when I was a child, and through her unswerving allegiance to its teachings she gained much peace, happiness, and health. Membership in a branch church, since its organization, has meant more to me than I could possibly express, and each opportunity of serving in it has brought me joy, gratitude, and spiritual unfoldment.

I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science, for the gradual unfolding of the Scriptures made possible through the study of this Science, and for all the experiences I have had, however small. Christ Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

I came to Christian Science seeking an answer to the problems of existence and relief from extreme mental depression, rather than for physical healing, because my general health had been good. Colds and stomach trouble, however, had occasioned much distress, and certain muscular ailments had caused inconvenience and suffering.

In the Christian Science Hymnal ( No. 182 ) we read, They cease to have who cease to give: Such is the law of Love.

Christian Science came to me in a very beautiful way. A friend invited me to attend a Sunday morning service.

I am impelled to write a testimony telling of the glorious experiences that came to me and mine during World War I, hoping that it will prove beneficial to those who may now be experiencing anxiety and fear. At that time I was a young student of Christian Science, having witnessed a number of healings and being greatly interested in all I read in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
